P0011

A Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)

Severity: High Fuel & Air Metering Generic Code

Detailed Description

The actual intake camshaft timing on Bank 1 is more advanced than the ECM-commanded timing, exceeding the allowable deviation range.

Possible Causes

Camshaft position actuator mechanically stuck
Abnormal camshaft position sensor signal
Timing chain/belt jumped or stretched
Low oil pressure or incorrect oil viscosity
VVT control valve failure.

Solutions & Repair Guide

First check engine oil level and quality to ensure normal oil pressure; Verify timing marks are properly aligned; Use an oscilloscope to check camshaft and crankshaft position sensor signal phasing; Check if the VVT actuator rotates freely; Disassemble the timing system if necessary.
